1. Mountains and seas separated China from other lands and civilizations. The Chinese people thought they lived in the center of the world. They didn't know about Egypt, India, Greece or Rome. The first civilizations in China developed along the Huang River where they could farm. North China had an brief rainy season and the climate was dry. South China was very warm and wet from the Monsoons. When the Huang river would flood it would it would help them grow millet which is important to their diet.
